British Composer Awards 2017

The RVW Trust congratulates all the winners and nominated composers at the 2017 British Composer Awards. We are proud to have supported Kerry Andrew's Who We Are, written for the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain; Sally Beamish's The Tempest for Birmingham Royal Ballet; Kenneth Hesketh's In ictu oculi, for the National Youth Wind Ensemble of Great Britain; Christian Mason's Tuvan Songbook for the Ligeti Quartet; and Philip Venables' 4:48 Psychosis for the Royal Opera House.

Sir John Manduell

We are very sad to report the death of Sir John Manduell on 25 October at the age of 89. Sir John, a Trustee of the RVW Trust from 1998 until his retirement earlier this year, was Head of the BBC Music Programme from 1964-68, Founding Principal of the Royal Northern College of Music, and Director of Cheltenham Music Festival (1969-1994).

Jeremy Dale Roberts

We are very sad to announce the death of our colleague Jeremy Dale Roberts. Jeremy knew Ralph Vaughan Williams and Gerald Finzi before studying composition with William Alwyn and Priaulx Rainier at the Royal Academy of Music; he was appointed an Adviser to the RVW Trust in 2000, and became a Trustee in 2005. He will be much missed.
